A broken key – what now?
A broken key in your lock is always annoying. We understand that you would like to get back inside immediately. However, it is important to remain calm and not pull too hard on the key. That can make the problem worse.
Before taking action, first take a good look at the situation:
- Is there a piece of the key still sticking out of the lock?
- Has the key disappeared completely into the lock?
- Is the lock itself also damaged?
Make it yourself or ask for help?
You might want to fix a broken lock yourself. Sometimes you can. For example, if the lock is stiff. Then you can use some lock spray. But be careful: don't push too hard if it doesn't work. Then you might break the lock even more.

Removing a broken key
